The Technical Committee on Drafting the Constitution says it will hand over the final draft Constitution, the Constitution of Zambia Bill and the report to President Michael Sata in October 2013.
Spokesperson Ernest Mwansa in a statement issued to QFM News today says the Committee has received the final draft Constitution from the drafts-persons, which has since been handed over to independent editor.
Mr Mwansa says the editors who were handed the final draft Constitution yesterday, 18th September have been given 10 days in which to edit the document to ensure accuracy and consistency and will hand back the document immediately thereafter.
He adds that it also envisaged that the technical Committee will take a maximum of ten working days to proof-read the final draft Constitution, the Constitution of Zambia Bill and the Committee’s Report after the Final Draft Constitution and the Report come back from the independent editors.
Mr Mwansa has reiterated the Committee’s commitment to ensuring that the remaining processes in the constitution-making process are concluded expeditiously.

aaaa fusekeni. epo mwa ambila, nanomba!!!!!! take that constitution of yours and shove it up where the sun don’t shine. twalema nayo. from 90 days to 2 years. thieves and cheats. And we know that still, the next govt will want a new constitution. stop wasting our time!!!!!!!!!!
Bufi, Bboza, Kubeja
flush it into the toilet cos its useless we already know.
It’s difficult to know if the final draft Constitution will be handed over in October. We have had so many dates mentioned since last year and one can only hope that this time the Technical Committee will do what they are promising to do.
No democratic country can afford to do without a good constitution.Zambia is fast drifting into an abyss because past presidents were very shortsighted and did not care to ensure that this country needed a good constitution to prosper.
At this juncture,we cannot trust Michael Sata in the constitution-making process. All opposition parties,NGOs,the clergy, human rights and political activists and other stakeholders will have to exert pressure on Sata to avoid a repeat of past blunders of leaving this task in the hands of a ruling party.
Time wasters!!
