UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon, has condemned the killing of a Zambian military observer in Darfur and called on the Government of Sudan to bring the perpetrators to justice.
A message from Mr Ban’s office stated that the UN Secretary-General was deeply saddened to hear of the death of a Zambian military observer of the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) in an attack by unidentified armed assailants in El Fasher, North Darfur, on Friday.
“The Secretary-General expresses his deepest sympathies to the families of the fallen peacekeeper, the Government of Zambia and to all UNAMID personnel,” the statement read in part. “The Secretary-General condemns this deadly attack on the military observer and expects that the Government of Sudan will take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
In another incident, Mr Ban condemned the attack by unknown armed men on a convoy of UNAMID in which three Senegalese UNAMID peacekeepers were killed and one Senegalese injured in Darfur on Sunday.
“All too often UNAMID peacekeepers are attacked and killed in the line of duty, while helping the Sudanese bring peace to Darfur. These attacks are unacceptable. The Secretary-General calls on the Government of Sudan to bring those responsible to justice,” the statement read.
Too bad for the victims (peace keepers). We pray that there will be guaranteed space in heaven for these men and women dieing for good cause. May their Souls Rest in Eternal Peace. We join the families world over in mourning. The time is coming however when death shall be No more and all who lay still in their graves shall raise up to meet him (GOD) in the clouds of heavens.
BE BORN AGAIN
John 3 vs 3, 5-7 says we must be “born again” to enter the Kingdom of God.
John 14 vs 6 Jesus is the way to the Father and Heaven.
We all know this but we want to pretend or postpone or hide in the law.
Confess Jesus Christ as in Romans 10 vs 9-13.
….and 2 Corinthians 5:17
i fill sorry for the family of that parson but i know that GOD is with him.
…if only we had the muscle and decisiveness that the Jews and the West have when it comes to dealing with those that murder their citizens. For them, a citizen’s life is worth a multiple of that of a none-citizen.
The Zambian soldier’s life is only valuable to his/her family. As a nation, we don’t seem to care. MHSRIP.
What was the name of the Soldier?
It is sad that we have a so called Commander in Chief who hasn’t even said a word about this loss! What a Muppet!
Now it’s the presidents fault!
Poor reporting ba LT. From which background is the statement from the UN secretary general coming from? You don’t report until you have the all story instead of leaving readers in suspense. Whats the name of a Zambian military observer in question and under what circumstances was he killed?
Very sad indeed, this is heart breaking, how do you comfort the family?
