UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) says it will continue holding nationwide rallies after holding a meeting to strategy the way forward for the opposition political party in the coming year.
UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said in an interview that his party was intending to continue with political rallies across the country after getting a breather from the Mansa central by-election where it lost the seat to the ruling PF.
On November 3, 2013 UPND cancelled its rally that was scheduled to take place in Kanyama township claiming it got a go ahead late from the police.
It asked the police to re schedule its rally to November 10, 2013 but police thwarted it as it was coinciding with a national event
(cenotaph).
UPND had last month successfully held a political rally in Madevu township after police gave them permission to go ahead.
UPND later went to court seeking the court’s intervention over the police’s decision to cancel it rally but it has since abandoned the case on grounds that it was going to incur huge financial losses.
But Mr Mweetwa yesterday said that UPND would continue with its rallies after holding a meeting to strategize the way forward for the party in 2014.
Mr Mweetwa said “ we will have a meeting this week to review the activities in the last few months and map the way forward as we look into 2014”.
He said that UPND was still recovering from the Mansa by-election loss but was alive to the fact the life span of elections was a lose or win game.
Way to UPND way to go! FAKA PRESSURE!
UPND THE SINKING PARTY. MORE RALLIES???MY FOOT!!! COME 2016, PF WILL CARRY ON.
Brilliant idea. The only problem is Sata won’t allow you because he is dead scared of UPND and HH. Thats why PF he is increasingly making it difficult for opposition to hold rallies any more.
Any way only time will tell. If it will be time for PF to go and UPND or NAREP to rule so it shall be because God hears people’s cries and prayers.
For sure PF will not be in power until Jesus comes!
Way to Go UPND way to go! FAKA PRESSURE!
Hahahaha ..last kicks of a dying horse
Political amateurs.
WHO CARES? U CAN HOLD EVEN 1 MILLIONS RALLIES.COME 2016 NI PA BWATO AND THAT WILL MARK THE END OF HH ERA
Keep your rallies in Sinazongwe , Sinazeze and Choma.

UPND should push for the change of constitution where cattle will be allowed to vote. Only when can the win 2016.
@Observer
Do you eat beef?
Because only if the cattle like you is allowed to vote PF will win?
HH can you just concentrate on business you are just wasting your time in politics you are just losing your business money my friend
That is a foolish thinking in fact it is a foolish statement from a foolish person. You do not need to Insult you do not gain anything at all.
I’ve owaz despised UPND .But after seeing pipo in pf killing each other with pangas i have a change of heart.
I urge the hierachy in upnd to stick to this plan.Come 2016 we will vote wisely this tym around.
who are the ‘we’?
Wait a minute, UPND! Please concentrate on building your structures from natioanal, provincial, et cetera, through to the branch, section, area, community and village levels. Rallies won’t take you anywhere, they are just quick sand that does not hold together much. You need pillars and concrete foundation upon which to build your party. But, bear in mind that Northerners only vote for their own people – Sata, Nawakwi and Mumba. They say HH hakaivotela heka!
I agree that the rallies they insist on are useless. They are better off spending time and money indentifying good leaders in areas where they are generally weak. Lusaka politics of rallies will not win them an election in Mansa when they are weak on the ground. And the Lady they picked for Mansa is such a weak candidate one even wonders how she qualified to be on the ticket of such an otherwise attractive party.
@11.1
Ati ”attractive party” sure upnd attractive party!!? Since when?
My dear brothers and sisters, let’s find time to read comments from pi po coz some are genuine, there is no way can upnd loose to fdd with that margin? Let’s start forming branches and wards in our provinces. Rallies are good too.
UPND you can have alot of rallies, but looking the large area of Zambia the PF commands, its rily difficulty for UPND penetrate through.
