Can Sate Sate shine at Cecafa Cup?

Share

2013 FAZ Super League top scorer Ronald Kampamba has a chance to prove that he can play for Chipolopolo as Zambia participates at the 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that kicked off in Kenya on Wednesday.

The Nkana forward nicknamed ‘Sate Sate’ is in coach Patrice Beaumelle’s 20-member squad for the Cecafa Cup where Zambia are taking part as guest team.

Kampamba has struggled to earn a place in the senior national team despite enjoying fantastic club form.

He scored 18 goals in the ended campaign to help Kalampa win the 2013 league title.

Immediate past Zambia coach Herve Renard had started snubbing Kampamba after the ex-Under-20 star failed to score in two friendlies against Tanzania and Malawi in 2012.

However, Beaumelle has handed Kampamba a lifeline to prove his mettle on the bigger stage.

The 21-year-old player returned to the national team for the first time since 2012 when he was included in the squad that lost to Jordan 1-0 in Doha this month .

At Cecafa Cup, Kampamba is facing competition from fellow strikers Bornwell Mwape and Alex Ng’onga including club mate Festus Mbewe.

  1. most nkana players shine at club level but lamentably fail at national level i dont know why, remember musole sakulanda, very good at club level take him ku national team- malabishi yeka yeka and as for festus hes not a national team material.

  2. @Sharp shooter. It is Nkana of today who has mediocre srikers.
    Not Kalampa of yesteryears.
Kelvin Mutale, Numba Mumamba, Kenneth Babo Malitoli, Gibby Mpasela, Beston Chambeshi, etc.

If Sate Sate doesn’t shine, he will have himself to blame.

  3. Iwe sharp shooter kalampa has produced the cream of Zambian football. Apart from what mj has given you there was Bernad ‘BOMBER’ Chanda, Jack ‘African Pele’ Chanda & Micheal Chabala. Ask & think before you open your mouth mwaice.

  4. A dull mind will always speak negative & expect a positive result. Wish the boy the best . If he shines /scores we win, if he doesn’t u start to insult the coach when u wished Zambia not score in the first place.
