THE Federation of Free Trade Unions in Zambia (FFTUZ) has called on Zambians not to concentrate on political bickering but help position the country on a path of economic prosperity.

FFTUZ president Joyce Nonde-Simukoko said that 2013 had been a successful year in various spheres but was concerned that more time was being wasted on talking instead of actions that would benefit the country.

Ms Simukoko hailed Government’s efforts to realise positive results for the country adding that the same spirit should double in 2014.

“As a country, 2013 has been a great year, we have been peaceful, we have seen encouraging results, economically, socially but we need to do less talk and concentrate on actions that will drive this country forward. We have everything, the natural resources, what is it that we don’t have as a country?

“We need to move in a direction that will help to continue building our country. That is why I am saying that we should not concentrate on differences all the time. We only see in our newspapers and television, this one is saying this and another responds, which is not taking us anywhere. As Zambians we should stop taking pleasure in squabbles,” she said.

She also appealed to the media to be agents of change rather than fueling differences especially among political leaders.

She said Zambia was not immune to global happenings, citing the recent warning by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that developing countries risked borrowing at high rates in the coming year, as being issues that the citizenry needed to focus on.

She added that as the year 2013 comes to an end, it was important to take stock of the country’s achievements and challenges, so as to position it on the right economic footing in 2014.

    • Politics is every thing. How do work when cadres can tell president to make transfers . If you want a job, just say it. Talk about NGOs who will start paying tax and they are likely to leave the country.

  1. Joyce tell that to the politicians especially people in power , ordinary Zambians
are going on with their lives, and they don’t have time for bickering when they
    have families to feed.

  2. Joyce high light to me the so called encouraging results economically, Socially that you have seen in the panga family government. People are now suffering more than never before. Unemployment, destitution, you name it has gone up drastically.

On political bickering again the pf is leading on that score, they are always fighting among themselves even going to the extent of miming and killing fellow cadre a thing that was unheard in our peacefully country. But surprising Joyce can only see peace when innocent people are losing life.

  3. This is the problem when these Trade Union Leaders like Joyce Nonde have outlived their usefulness. You can clearely see that her interests are QUITE different from those of poor workers she is supposed to be representing!
Even from Maslow’s Hierachy of Needs, it is basic knowledge that you cannot be talking of development from an empty stomach. The workers should first be able to afford a bag of mealiemeal before talking of development – otherwise they’ll die and not see that development!! The hierachy here is hunger first and development later.
Joyce Nonde MUST GO because she has become a “POLOTICIAN”. That’s not a personal to holder job – let others also have a fair crack at it.
The OLD WOMAN was there even before Mwanawasa – so she has lost direction! Go ugly woman, GO!

  4. I bet some of u will commit sucide because yo job is blogging unsensebles. When u do that u dink in yo sick minds dat yo damagogues(Mumba,HH)re gainning grounds.Who c side with yo stu pidity?Nonde u re right.Dey’ll b cought dirt pants down in 2016.

  5. This Nonde woman is useless. What’s there to celebrate? High price of unga? Panga fighting? Bye elections? Madam just apply for a job instead of trying to fool us when you are actually fooling yourself

  6. Joyce, shut your stinky twat and mouth too. You’re just representing your husbands testicles and your stoamch! Rubbish wench!
