President Michael Sata has urged the Zambia Security Intelligence Service (ZSIS) officers to remain loyal to the government of the day.

Mr. Sata has meanwhile praised the ZSIS for maintaining peace and security in the country.

He has since reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the service in its operations and urged the officers to be professional in their execution of duties.

According to a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations George Chellah, the President said this when he addressed a senior officer’s conference in Lusaka today.

The conference was held under the theme “quality intelligence: key to enhanced social economic development and the defence of a unitary and a corrupt free state”.

And Mr. Sata has challenged the service to come up with appropriate strategies to monitor and wipe out corrupt practices and other cases of economic sabotage.

Mr. Sata said corruption is an obstacle to national stability and growth.

Meanwhile, ZSIS Director General Mr. Martin Mwanambale pledged the intelligence service’s full loyalty to the Head of State, the government and the people of Zambia.

  1. Mr President we have heard, but on the constitution, Our colleagues in uniform must know, the ideals we are fighting for are their ideals too- a better constitution, a free Zambia from poverty and oppression. There comes a time in Zambia’s history for all our colleagues in uniform who don’t believe in oppression and tyranny to do “DONCHI KUBEBA” on all orders given to them against innocent unarmed citizens. “There are many people who feel that it is useless and futile to continue talking about peace, non-violence and the constitution, against a government whose only reply is savage attacks on an unarmed and defenseless people”, N. Mandela. Colleagues in uniform, Arise and join the struggle- our constitution, our heritage and your better children’s future!! We have suffered enough!!

    • So there is truth in Z.W.D’s reporting that they are getting information from intelligence!
Loyalty of everybody shall be to Zambian People and not to a moron individual (President).

    • Mr. President, why dont you start by being royal to the pipo of Zambia that elected u and give them the constitution? Is this asking for too much?

  2. The president is right once again

Why doesn’t he fire the ones that are not loyal to him?

    Beggars belief doesn’t it ?

    Thanks

    • Loosing grip on security service is a sign of bad leadership skills, he has warned them several times but to no avail. Personally I don’t see what most of his supporters see in him, he lacks charisma, he is bad tempered and he’s foreign policy is a complete disaster.

  3. I thought since Nov 1991 the intelligence and OP have always been loyal to the govt of the day! I have never heard of such a plea since independence. What has befallen our security wing? At least during KK’s time that we suspected they were the property and served only the interest of KK.

  4. As ukwa asking his puppets to be loyal. To him loyalty means to be a bootlicker, Mr presindent people who are loyal tells u when things are not alright, but to u it means some1 who can kiss your ass when u say hi!

  5. I like this, the good old days are back.
    Nichekeleko!
    Naine nichekeleko!
Ba Kapaso, Kaboke be loyal to CNP only he means. Do not pass on information to ZWD.

  6. These are same people that gave you data at farmers house. This time they pass data to somebody else in opposition.

  7. Sorry oops! I meant as usual. This man has made me to stop watching TV coz I can owez rely on him to give me entertainment.

  8. I ALSO HAVE A COPY OF THE PRESIDENT’S SPEECH BUT THE ZWD, THE DAILY NATION, LUSAKA TIMES ETC DELIBERATELY TWIST WELL INTENTIONED STORIES JUST TO ATTRACT THEIR GRADE 12 READERSHIP WHO DO NOT HAVE INDEPENDENT REASONING ABILITY.

    TO IN THE SPEECH,

THE PRESIDENT SIMPLY CHALLENGED THE ZAMBIA SECURITY INTELLIGENCE SERVICE (ZSIS) TO COME UP WITH APPROPRIATE STRATEGIES TO MONITOR AND WIPE OUT CORRUPT PRACTICES AND OTHER CASES OF ECONOMIC SABOTAGE.

IT WAS THE DIRECTOR GENERAL MARTIN MWANAMBALE OF ZAMBIA SECURITY INTELLIGENCE SERVICE (ZSIS) WHO MADE THE PLEDGE TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTELLIGENCE SERVICE’S FULL LOYALTY TO THE HEAD OF STATE, THE GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA.

    • @Luapula

Did he mean they should watch him so that he does not sabotage the economy further? On that they are already ahead of him thats why they pass on information to some of us so we can inform the nation what exactly is happening.

Or did he mean they should be vigilant in order arrest and intimidate any one with dissenting views. To be exact I think he is begging them to find flimsy charges to slap on any opposition leader who is posing a threat to his reign.

Sata ni Chitongo , ni chumbu shimololwa.

  9. Our loyalty is to the constitition, not the pperson. When the person changes we don’t we don’t change. Loyalty is to the people of Zambia as our oath states.

Only fools become puppets and give unconstitutional service to to the president and the PF cadres and Ministers. Puppets get changed.

If you want to keep a secret, tell nobody. If you absolutely must then tell one other pperson, no more.

Use proxy servers to log on to the net, never use your cell phone, stay away from lodghes, guest houses and inns. Never take the same route, never net anyoine see that you are injured.

  10. Consider reversing the rentals for the officers also to be paid on Payslip as opposed to the previous Officers will be thrown in dirty compounds and some will fail to manage and that may affect there work

Payment of rentals by the service was better than the pay slip it made superiors control and have officers be scattered very well for proper service duties and networking

Most of them will be at the mercy of landlords Please reverse before confusion and distress issues

  11. @Wanzelu

WE ARE IN A DEMOCRATIC DISPENSATION! YOU ARE ENTITLED TO OWN INTERPRETATION OR MISINTERPRETATION. WHETHER SATA IS CHITONGO OR NI CHUMBU SHIMOLOLWA OR WHATEVER, IT WILL NOT CHANGE OUR PERCEPTION OF THIS GUY BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR QUITE A WHILE.
WE HAVE SEEN THE CONTRIBUTIONS EACH PRESIDENT HAS MADE TOWARDS DEVELOPING OUR COUNTRY SINCE THE BIRTH OF OUR NATION.

NAME CALLING IS SYMBOLIC OF DEFEATISM/SURRENDER. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD RATHER WAIT FOR 2016 WHEN THE MAJORITY WILL PASS THE FINAL VERDICT ON THIS GUY’S PERFORMANCE. PLEASE SUPPRESS YOUR INSULTS OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTAIN YOUR STRESS WHEN ELECTION RESULTS FROM LUAPULA ARE ANNOUNCED IN 2016.

  12. some bloggers names above,no wonder LT doesnt attract good bloggers anymore, too many chamba smokers from zwd

  13. Prioritizing the fight against corruption can backfire. Intelligence must remain professional and patriotic. The current regime of priorities in the intelligence community is spot on. Different regimes are coming and going, opposition is free to organize, inflation is low, employment is growing, corruption is going down and infrastructure development is progressing well. It is better to strengthen the media and ACC Education and Information than to digress from fighting terrorism and maintaining one unitary state in the country. Corruption is sensational but it is toothless bulldog. In the end the corruption involves two sides that are willing to commit a crime. Humans are tricky and there is no need for emotions. It is better to build preventive measures through audits and accounts

  14. So now G.Chella is the president it seems, coz anything that is meant for the presdo to speak, write, or answer, Chella wil respond in his ( chella) own words according to wat he thinks n feels. So whoz the presdo ka chella o ????

  15. I like the debate on this onlie but sometimes it is boling because of open hosstlity and insults which culminate in not learning anything. we must show maturity even in speach. Mind you, zambia is still a christian nation, who ever wants to advise anybody even myself on this media should not resort to insult but to pass a Godly advise even the president might wish to read your comments and learn from them.
