The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says it is operating smoothly despite the alleged power struggle at its Lusaka District Office.
The PF District power struggle is between Goodson Banda and Robert Chikwelete.
PF Deputy Secretary General Bridget Atanga says the wrangle involving the duo has stalled pending elections to be held soon.
ZANIS reports that PF Deputy Secretary General said this in an interview, today.
She said that the party is not affected by the absence of the district leadership.
Mrs. Atanga appealed to the party cadres not to relent but put the energies on working hard and make the party stronger.
“The PF in Lusaka district is not affected by the absence of the district chairperson.
“The remaining members at the district executive are working hard and the ruling party has continued to operation and function,” Mrs. Atanga said.
She however, assured that preparations for holding the polls had intensified but could not reveal the exact date.
Recently, Police in full riot gear manned the closed district office in the central business district two days after it was re-opened by the Julius Komaki led group.
Komaki re-opened the district office which had remained closed for some time following wrangles in the ruling party.
PF Lusaka Province Chairman Geoffrey Chuumbwe who is now care-taker regretted the two parallel structures in the ruling party and hinted that President Micheal Sata wanted to see the squabbles come to an end through an electoral process.
