The Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) has warned People’s Party (PP) president Mike Mulongoti, to desist from discussing issues related to the MMD in the media.
MMD Information and Publicity Secretary, Alfred Ndhlovu, says Mr Mulongoti should stop discussing MMD issues in the press because he is not the party spokesperson.
Mr Ndhlovu has, howeve,r urged Mr Mulongoti to concentrate on issues affecting his party than devote to talking about the MMD in the press.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Ndholvu was responding to a story carried in the Post Newspapers of 11 the January, 2014, quoting Mr Mulongoti saying “the MMD has not cleansed
itself”.
Mr Ndholvu further urged Mr Mulongoti to practice politics of unity with other opposition political parties in order to give the ruling party checks and balances.
Meanwhile, Mr Ndhlovu has implored President Michael Sata to speed up the process of coming up with a people’s driven constitution.
ZANIS
mulongotu is just a pf vuvuzela reloaded. oneman party that has not even a secretary general. he practices politics of bitterness
Mulongoti is just another PF cadre, president for what?
I would like to focus my discussion on the last part of the article that talks about the constitution. Its not that PF does not want to give us the constitution, they are scared of one clause which is the 50+1.They know that if they give the people this new constitution, they will not afford to win the 2016 elections. This was the fear even in the mwanawasa era.I foresee a lot of problems if the upcoming elections were held based on this clause, pacts will be made in hurry for the sake of ascending to power and the aftermath will be chaotic. This clause would have worked better if it was introduced in 1991,it would then grow side by side with our democracy, otherwise, good luck on getting a new constitution soonest Zambians.
@zamcab 50+1 was in 1991 constitution but was removed in 1996 by the likes of Sata and ftj
PP MEANS promoted party by MMD
@yondo sisters dont comment on things you dont know and cant comprehend. PF fears of 50±1 is real. Thats why MMD did not give us a constitution as well. Any party in power will have difficulties winning with such a clause. We shall have a situation of parties only forming governments for a term. Winter Kabimba as an indivitual is on record against this clause. Even if UPND came into power today, they will try by all means to remove this obstacle . It will retard national development programmes because we will be having new governments every term. PF please make sure you implement the constitution after 2016
What is wrong with changing governments every term, if the majority so demand? It happens in other countries, even more frequently than one term – principled presidents just resign after their ’90 days’ have elapsed, and they have not done anything they promised to do. Even in the US, the sitting president has to sweat for the second term; which is not a given, as is the case in these so-called African mock democracies!
