The Oasis Forum says the best jubilee gift for Zambians this year is the delivery of a new and people-driven constitution.

Forum Spokesperson, Cleophas Lungu, says the best way to honour the fallen heroes is to put in place a new constitution that will ensure that their noble aspirations of having a prosperous and democratic Zambia are realised.

Fr Lungu has urged well-meaning Zambians to stand firm and strong in the resolve to deliver a new constitution that will give them a good cause to celebrate this year’s the Golden Jubilee.
He said this in a statement released to the media in Lusaka.

Fr. Lungu stated that Oasis Forum remains resolved to mobilizing the masses at the grassroots and campaigning in a peaceful manner for the immediate release of the final draft of the constitution and its enactment through a national referendum.

  1. Best jubilee gift might be the removal of Sata bcoz he’s the impediment to the constitution that you want.Sometimes you’ve got to cut off the branch standing in your way to reach the fruit.

  2. We will never have a good constitution as long as we target one individual. Right now people are having sleepless nights because they think the current one benefits president sata and they want to strip his powers as much as possible but they forget that he will not be president forever. There will actually be more anarchy in the country once we have a weak president. As a matter of fact, even if we have the best constitution in the world, we will still be a useless country if we don’t follow and enforce our laws like it happens with the current constitution.

  3. Oasis you should have stated that the best Jubilee gift would be dissolving Parliament and calling for new general elections by June giving Zambia a new fresh start!

  4. Technical Committee, Commission of Inquiry and other Working Groups appointed by government must not espouse radically different ideological views in their reports. This is recipe for disaster. Since UNIP government worked with its own cadres and functionaries, it came up with reports that were generally acceptable to UNIP government. Similarly, MMD government drafted reports that were ideologically not at variance with the MMD governments. If the Draft Constitution do not follow the political orientation of the PF government, then the drafts will not be implemented. That is the meaning of democracy. Political parties have got political orientations that must be respected by using consultative methods.
