Relatives of opposition MMD President Nevers Mumba have accused some government officials in Chinsali of denying them some social services because of their relations to him.

The over 30 relatives who tracked from villages near Lubwa Mission Hospital (where Dr Mumba’s mother came from) to Chinsali town were the opposition leader was staying at a family house during his tour of Chinsali accused the District Commissioner of instructing some government officials not to provide any assistance to the families.

They complained that the bole hole that was put up during the MMD era has broken down and PF officials have reportedly told them that they cannot help in repairing it because their relative is allegedly fighting President Michael Sata in the opposition hence forcing them to walk long distances to fetch water.

[pullquote]“They tell us that your relative was Vice President, go and ask for help from him. Why should we include you in our programmes when your relative is in the opposition fighting the President, even our women groups are no longer being considered” said one of Dr Mumba’s relatives.[/pullquote]

They further complained that they are being left out of any community programmes such as the Fertilizer Input Support Program (FISP) and their cries have been ignored for the same reasons.

“They tell us that your relative was Vice President, go and ask for help from him. Why should we include you in our programmes when your relative is in the opposition fighting the President, even our women groups are no longer being considered” said one of Dr Mumba’s relatives.

But Dr Mumba said what the PF officials were doing was against the law and that he will take it up with President Sata.

He said he would help in areas that he was able to but that he would not do everything as he was only able to help to a certain extent adding that it was government’s obligation to provide social services to everyone in the country regardless of their political affiliation or relation.

Dr Mumba wondered what sort of people the PF were for them to deny people services they deserved simply because they were related to him saying the MMD provided services to all Zambians without segregation when they were in power.

He reminded the PF appointees to remember that Zambia is a democratic nation and that they will not be in power forever therefore should be mindful of their action.

    • It’s against the constitution and human rights to deny a Zambian citizen services just because he is related to an opposition leader, this is appalling and disgusting.PF never seems to stop sinking so low,one wonders what the depth of the pit they are digging is.

    • They are lucky they are a small group. They should remember that whole provinces have been denied development on account of not been Bemba or PF supporters. The so called LINK Zambia 8000 consists of 45 road projects all in Lusaka and Northern parts of Zambia.

    • OFF-TOPIC JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THIS CHUMBU MUNSHOLOLWA
Dear PF friends don’t bury your heads in the sand and still think that all is well with Sata and PF. A lot of things have gone wrong in the governance of this country. Sata has created more enemies than friends within a short period of time in power, such as Chitimukulu, GBM, the Catholic church, church mother bodies, civil society, students, his “useless, mps and ministers, etc. More so, he has created enmity with the people of Zambia through lies, arrogance and not listening to the people’s demands.
Most government officials are just holding on to their jobs just to eat. Once time comes for Sata’s fall, this man will be left alone because of his lack of respect for others. Calling older mature family people “useless”, “mwe…

    • Mushota, you suffer from inferiority attitude there are no Bembas in Luapula. Why cant you be proud of your ethnicity.

    • BUT their taxes are not rejected by ZRA!!!! Stone age thinking!! Let them refuse to pay taxes. By the way you pay VAT on most goods you buy in Zambia regardless of political party you belong to.

VillAGERS should stop thinking they are under feudal rulers but democratically elected leaders. The citizens are the masters and not the people in power. Remember, they usually make their candidates kneel to beg for your votes. That is why you need a modern constitution that will give you the people power over political leaders. People in democracies like our such as Americans are already enjoying the benefits of democracy.

    • Funny how people change allegiance in a very short period of time. Not so long ago, RB will in this area referring to Micheal Sata as CHISILU and people were laughing yet all they were doing is eat MMD’s money.

The same is happening now, worse still because Chumbu Munsholowa has messed up with MwineLubemba and now the catholic church. His fall will be catastrophic, and soon. Unlike RB he will die a very lonely man.

    • Seriously? Are you that daft or just plain stu..pid? they have been complaining but at this point in time there happened to be a journalist to record their complaints.I think Zambia’s education system is very bad looking at the way some bloggers fail to analyse simple issues.

  1. that is what happens when a party becomes an axis of evil. PF is is really evil. all our people in Chinsali need help.

  2. I went to intercity to pick up a little parcel a freind had sent for me from South Africa, to my shock some over zealous pf youth came and blocked my car as I was about to exit the terminal demanding that I pay duty or else I wasn’t going to pass, I had no choice but to pay because I feared for my life.

    • I do not blame you, those PF youths, like their MMD counterpats before them, are so dirty both in appearance and in their language. There is no difference between them and the Seleca thugs in Central African Republic. It is amazing how a ‘working’ PF government can allow such lawlessness carried out by its party youths. It is shameful to imagine that the Intercity bus station is one of the mirrors through which the image of Zambia is reflected to international visitors.

  3. Nonsense ! His village relatives have just nothing to tell their town bread winner, hence this story. It is typical of poor people to tell false stories whenever they see their financially more privileged relative visiting.I get similar stories whenever i visit my village. No brainer there.

    • Perhaps Nevers Mumba’s relatives are not as dull as yours? Stop thinking everyone has the same impaired thinking as you and your villagers. You and I know PF is an oppressive government.Thats a no brainer!

    • @Saulosi, wow wow, you are so rich that your relatives complain to you, demanding boreholes and clinics?
Learn to respect your relatives, even if they are in village.

  4. Why should should they deny them social services, why do they accept their tax? We are contributing in one way or another, so for to say you can not access social services which is being funded by every Zambian is being even. The GRZ services are for every Zambia.

    • @Chris, what tax do people in village pay? Imwe fyonse is to refer to money, You better use VOTE, you better say people voted for those DCs.

    • @Nostradamus, DCs are not voted for in Zambia. They are appointed by the president. However, your pointed is valid.
