GOVERNMENT has expressed concern over the number of corruption cases that are withdrawn from the police and not helping in the fight against the vice.

Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge said Government was working hard to fight corruption hence the need for the police officers to take all corruption cases to court.

“It is not good for corruption cases just to end at the police station .The Police has to investigate the matter and further arrest all those involved and take cases to court. This is the only way we can end the vice that has now grown big like cancer,” he said The minister was speaking yesterday when Ms Lobangani paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Ndola yesterday.

The IG is in the province to address officers and check on the challenges that were affecting them in their operations.

Mr Musenge, however called on the police to help in the fight against corruption by arresting and taking all those found wanting and taking them to court in order to deter others.

The Minister also expressed concern on the manner in which some Crime Prevention officers in the province were operating.

He said he had received a lot of complainant from the community on some Crime Prevention Officers that were engage in criminal activities.

Mr Musenge, however called on the IG to screen all crime prevention officers that help the police in the maintenance of law and order in the community.

“Some crime prevention officer has gone out of hand. They are no longer doing their mandated duty of helping the police to maintain law and order. They engage themselves selves in unlawful activities such as debt collection and making our Government unpopular,” he said Mr Musenge said there was also need for the police officers to always lead the crime prevention unit in all the areas of operation.

Ms Libongani called on all officers to read themselves of all forms of corruption in their duty ahs it was the only way the vise among them can end.

She said the police was working on increasing the police establishment from the current 18 000 to 27 000 by next year.

Commenting the behavior of some crime prevention officers, Ms Libongani the police would do away with all those that will be found wanting.

  1. Why are you concerned? Do something about it. State with Winter to him to court for failing to be interviewed by ACC.

Also take Chikwanda for having renovated state house without following led down procedure.

Take the chief from Mupika district for lies that he is an expert in constitution writing without any history of him developing any policy document in this country.

Once you have done these please come back with this story

  2. Why do these people play to the gallary? We all know that the fight against corruption is selective based on ones loyalty to the masters at plot 1, Past Newspaper and Ministry of Justice. How then does this minister expect the Police and indeed the ACC to act without instructions from the powers that be? It is my view that the Police and ACC have a long list of possible cases but all suspects appear to be in good books with the powers and therefore it is just a waiting game. one just has to look at the cases of Kabimba (left off despite the overwhelming evidence and his own admission of being offered bribes) and yet Kambwili without less than K5,000 in advert fees is being publicly dragged into investigations…lets not even go to GBM…

  3. BA MWENYA MUSENGE MULEIKALAFYE NGA TAMUKWETE FYAKULANDA

PANTU NAIMWE MWALIBA CORRUPT REMEMBER THAT SOMEBODY S WIFE

YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM THE HUSBAND, AND EVEN CORRUPLY ORGANISED A JOB
AT RATSA YOU THINK WE DONT KNOW? IS IT NOT ABUSE OF OFFICE?
JUST KEEP QUIET YOU ARE ALL CORRUPT.

    • We are a christian nation and like the Founding Father for Zambia KK often reminds us, we ought to do unto others as we wish them do unto us! Unfortunately, ACC is infiltrated with most corrupt and vindictive functionaries of powers that be. Only the most wise and just God will sort them out. ACC is selective in its ‘modus operandi’ shamelessly and has completely failed. Its workers are only interested in allowances for cases they mishandle and lose at great expense to tax-payers. ACC needs honest, conscientious men and women to work without fear or favour and fair to justice as well as development of the nation. Now it is full of mere gossipers and fake whistle-blowers just to keep their jobs they got through nepotism. God does not bless the works of their hands!

  4. Zambia is finished!! those who are tasked to fight corruption are corrupt. Those who are tasked to arrest thieves are thieves themselves. Nowardays we fear traffic officers more than we fear robbers!

    • All varied points . Especially on fearing police than robbers because this officers has become robbers in uniform.
