Red Arrows Rugby Club have opened the second round of the 2007 rugby season of a sound not by beating Mufulira at home.
The Zambia Airforce (ZAF) sponsored side, whose players participated in the Seven
Aside international championship made known their intent to win the match by scoring
3-0 against the visitors.
However Mufulira leveled the scores in the dying minutes of the first half to go on
recess 3-3.
But on resumption, the home team dominated the game cutting the visitors in their
own turf where they unable to hold the attack by the home team thereby conceding
more goals . Red Arrows were 18-3 by press time.
However team chairman Lieutenant Colonel Robert Kampeshi expressed disappointment
at his team’s performance.
Lt. Colonel Kampeshi said in an interview that he was not particularly happy with
his players were disorganized and uncoordinated in the game.
He however attributed the bad performance to his team not having three major players
who are away with the National team in Egypt.
The team Chairman also attributed his team’s alleged bad performance to injuries
suffered during the recent 7 aside international rugby tournament won by Zimbabwe.
