The National Restoration Party NAREP has condemned acting president Wynter Kabimba’s remarks that government does not need to ask for permission from traditional leaders describing the remarks as disrespectful and an insult to the country’s traditional leadership.

NAREP National Secretary Reverend Jevan Kamanga says the PF to stop thinking that they own the country just because they are in power as Zambia belongs to its people.

Rev. Kamanga noted that though the says land is vested in the President on behalf of the people, Chiefs are the owners of land and deserve to be respected when it comes to issues of land in their respective chiefdoms.

He urged the acting president who is also the Justice Minister to reflect on his statement and apologize as his words undermines the powers of the chiefs in the country.

Below is the full statement.

NATIONAL RESTORATION PARTY
PRESS STATEMENT

KABIMBA DRUNK WITH PRESIDENTIAL POWERS

The recent statement by the Acting President Hon. Wynter Kabimba that government does not need to get permission from Chiefs or anyone to acquire land is an insult and disrespectful to traditional leaders and must not be condoned by all well-meaning Zambians.

It seems our Acting President is so excited and drunk with presidential powers such that he does not know what he is talking about. It is unfortunate that this PF government think they own Zambia just because they are the ones in power. This ‘Boma Ni Boma’ mentality has to end because the land in our country is not for the PF government, but for the people of Zambia. Government needs to get permission from traditional leaders to acquire land. Even though the law says all land is vested in the President on behalf of the people, Chiefs are the owners of land and deserve to be respected when it comes to issues of land in their respective chiefdoms. Governments will come and go, but chiefdoms will always be there, hence the need to respect traditional leaders.

Acting President, Hon. Kabimba should apologise for his statement because his words are undermining the powers of the chiefs. Already the PF have created anarchy with the Bembas over the throne of the Chitimukulu and now our Acting president wants to create more anarchy with traditional leaders across the country. We urge all the traditional leaders in the country not to take Hon. Kabimba’s statement seriously because he is just excited with his current position of Acting President.

We challenge Hon. Kabimba to tell the nation why PF like involving themselves in traditional affairs. The PF should not forget that these traditional leaders are leaders who must be respected by everyone including the PF themselves.

We send a warning to Hon. Kabimba to be extremely careful with the words he brings out to the people because he will need them in 2016 during campaigns. Hon. Kabimba should not misuse the Presidential powers just because he is the Acting President.

    • Looks like every Jim and Jack now is trying to give his or her opinion in the media.LT are you going to report on the latest Jerusalem post confirming that Sata is in good health ? You were so quick to report when they wrote that he visited a hospital there.Do the same on this breaking news.I know few people here will comment when you do so because they want Sata sick and eventually dead, but you can still do it for the sake of rational and objective bloggers like me. I will anxiously wait for that story.

    • Why so much hate for Winter Kabimba? I see an element of envy among many of these politicians. Chikwanda and Lungu have acted and not much talk- but with Winter, why so much bad comments?

    • @Ola
They are hating him because they are considering him as a more direct threat to their presidential ambitions compared to Chikwanda or Edgar Lungu.I personally don`t like Kabimba(I`m a Gyven Lubinda fan) but i understand where the opposition is coming from.

    • Just when,,, i was thinking otherwise then i notice a plan with a trick,,,,,,,,just maybe he kabimba is the man we,,, (yes we from the south, central and western, they so called minority) need to use to take away power from muchinga and those kwalolo mwela bemba tribalists,,,,,

with this early drunkardness Very soon kabimba will make some serious changes in his cabinet,,,,, expect more tonga and lozis sounding names,,, infact 90%

So ya! i therefore encourage all those kwalolo mwela bemba tribalists to be ,,,,useful id!ots to us in supporting kabimba as we shift power poles from muchinga to central and south,,

    • I would also be drunk given that opportunity just for a day.
Why do you think all the lies from the Freemason HH about Sata dying are coming from?
Everyone is in the queue to get drunk.

    • This Kabimba has started giving the opposition sleepless nights. Why everyone on him all of a sudden ?

    • You just got to say something in order to be seen. Everyone is saying something. So say something.

I have a choice between Milupi or Magande’s party. The guys are smart.

  1. Zambia has a dual land tenure system. There is state land where chiefs do not have a role in the alienation of such land. When it comee to customary land however, even Gvt needs the traditional authorities’ permission to alienate such land.

    • Stop creating a storm in a tea cup on Kabimba. You all know the bugger can’t win even a ward election a waste of our time and space.

Best we commented on sometthing else please.

  2. Well said,it looks like under pf the law has changed, all customary land is administered by chiefs ,who are helped by headmen,on behalf of the Zambian citizens, the normal process of govt acquiring land has to be done with the consultation with the chief in that particular kingdom.the govt can inform the chief of the site of its interest.pf is abusing the office of the presidency.its gov’t of the people by the people for the people and not govt of those in power to intimidate the people.

  3. The man is at the helm after fending off opposition in the name of GBM machinations, the youths rattling noises and the cadres dream Kabimba outing push. This man needs to be given credit for political survival against these odds. Power-drunkenness in this case can be justified. Am sure when he is sober he will start to stir the country forward.

    • Which Country???????????? The only person keeping him in the PF is MCS, we have planned on how this time around he will be expelled for good.

We will not allow third parties to continue controlling PF internal affairs anymore.

    • @ Dr. Eustace Wabo

I’m with you. Of course I also know other reasons why some people are making so much noise against Kabimba acting as President, but it is a waste of time to go into them now. The hatred for Kabimba is so intense that I think if MCS was to die today they would kill Kabimba…and that is even an understatement. The fact is though is that I don’t see PF going anywhere if MCS was to die today – God Bless Him. That will be almost the end of the party, unless they stop this intense hatred for some individuals within PF. I think the dullness of assuming that PF winning in 2016 is automatic is shocking to me…and most people who are fighting against Kabimba have never successfully organised anything in their lives, not even a party! Let us not forget, HH is coming for PF.

  4. Iam not very sure Hon Kabimba said that in bad faith. let look at the context of his speech. We love our chiefs but we need development on the other hand. Iam not saying the desire for development to erode our wonderful culture NO but …. Lets not just politicize everything. Zambia needs a strong leader or leaders…who will use their influence for the well being of the community.

  5. With an impending presidential by-election, assuming what we are reading between the lines is true NAREP are sensing an opportunity here. They would oppose Kabimba if he tried to hand them political power.

  6. Upon hearing that Mulenga Sata is in South Korea who they had accused of having gone to Israel to attend to his sick father. They change quickly that Mr Sata might be taken possibly to South Korea for Kidney transplant. You guys are smart. But who is fooling who.You are just like the person you hate very incoherent all together.

  7. You are the people killing your own presidents and in the end you are delaying your own development. Why do you want this vibrant young man chosen by God to face a torrid time during his presidency. He is just acting afterall and the knives are out. You have already tested blood, am probably just wasting my time. Am off.

  8. In as much as I revile Kabimba, I also believe Mike should be the last person to comment on such matters. Firstly, was Mulongoti not the silly MMD singing canary monkey that deafened our ears with songs of Levy recovering well and jogging in Avenue des Champs-Élysées when he was actually breathing his last? Secondly, Mike failed his bar exams many times and he to date is not admitted to the bar, so if I wanted advise on constitutional matters, I would rather listen to constitutional legal minds of note such as Mvunga or Chongwe, not a silly cheeky fool like Mike.

  9. Seriously i don’t like Kabimba but for once let’s not just criticise because we can what Kabimba said is right and that’s the law yes Governments will come and go but there will always be new governments and what the government wants to build is a government building which if one day you NAREP come in government you will still use please don’t bring cheap politics here just because you want support, that the problem with zambian politics just because you are in opposition you criticise everything and when you come into government you the opposite because now you only say things because you want votes.

  10. All this criticism against Kabimba is PROOF that PF is still a threat and probably a BIGGER threat under Kabimba. Let him just ignore everybody and work hard for the nation. On many Zambians only 2 organs work perfectly: the a.n.u.s and the mouth. If you continue listening to them all you get is noise and stink.

  11. Dimunitive Winter…… Kalume kepi munshintina mabumba!!!! You will not bring him down. Hate him or love him , he is destined for presidency.
