Chipolopolo coach Honour Janza says he is looking forward to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
Janza’s side on Saturday qualified to the Africa Cup with a game to spare after overcoming Mozambique 1-0 away in Maputo thanks to striker Given Singuluma’s second half strike.
He is relishing the prospect of playing in Equatorial Guinea, a country that co-hosted the 2012 Africa Cup with Gabon that Zambia won.
“Going back to Equatorial Guinea may see Zambia win again. We were favoured in that atmosphere last time and maybe it was designed that we will succeed there,” Janza said.
“Though history cannot be relied upon, it can help the team look forward with optimism as you know we started from there and went on to finish in Gabon. We wanted to go Gabon and today, players would want to go to Equatorial Guinea.”
Janza is also expecting Zambia to finish the 2015 AFCON qualifiers on a high note as they face Group F leaders Cape Verde in Ndola on Wednesday evening.
“We will take the game very serious and there would be no hand out for anyone. We have a status to protect and winning this game will be very important to us and the players. We’ll respect the game and go
flat out to win,” Janza said.
He saluted his players for the hard work and demanded for more in future assignments.
Get em againg man!!!
Well done boys! There is no looking back now. Bring the trophy as an added Golden Jubilee present to Zambia; and what a smile you shall put on the new president who would have been a few weeks old in the office by the time you lift this cup, if you will.
Congratulations … iyee Chipolopolo! Good luck in EG for AFCON 2015. We want nothing short of the trophy again.
Ba Zambia Iyee … Chipolopolo iye!
God speed.
I congratulate them but i feel there is much to be done on the front line and defense. They are not too aggressive to force the ball past defenders. If the strikers can perform more like kalaba with fast well calculated passes then it can be wonders. There were some lapses also at our defense which created unnecessary pressure on mweene who really performed well. They really need to work hard as a team to reach the required level.
A loca Caoch at the helm. We dont need all these Foreign Coaches they just rip us off.
Go Zed Go Janza.
what you soccer fans boasting about?HZ never won any match until the Dutch coach was seconded and already you are praising him when right from the onset he was clueless.
You are already boasting about winning AFCON?
If Zambia on Wednesday can beat Cape Verde by 4 goals, then you can say we have a chance.
Mozambique wasted a lot of scoring opportunities and had they converted them, they could even gad scored 5 goals.
Algeria,Senegal,Cameroon,Burkina Faso and Ghana are the favourites, not Zambia.Sorry!
SOCCER analyst go to hell with your pull him down syndrome .He has made Zambia qualify one point scored.Next is to plan for AFCON that’s what we do in football.ITs one thing at a time. Why should you see a tribe before you see a human being in Janza.Leave him alone. Its one Zambia one Nation.
Can someone help me understand how Zambia qualified with a game to go – assuming they lose to CV and Mozambique harvets goals against the now-out Niger. Is there a head-to-head rule in qualifiers?
yes head -to- head applied for chipolopolo’ qualifcation wemuzambian boyi.
Anyway congrats but still nat convinced wit u janza, imagine strugglin to beat this mozambique team dat we beat on any given day
Okay without a solid midfield general, we are weak in the middle, we cant have team like Mozambique bullying the like of Nathan Sinkala, i feel Donasho should be thrown in there to help poor little Sinkala then give Rainford a free role just on top of these two, then you can have your Singuluma, Mayuka/Kangwa and Sate Sate play more effectively.
At the moment, we lack a strong ball winner and a creative midfielder to feed our boys upfront with killer passes.
Jay, you are absolutely correct. Kalaba was alternating on the wings and therefore there was no command from the midfield. Iam not sure who even gave Nathan the Vice Captainship, he is too shy and was a wasteful culprit. There was no feed to Mayuka.
