UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to find financiers to investment in the tourism and fish industries in Luapula owing to the massive water bodies in the Province.
Mr Hichilema said during a rally in Chienge that there is need to find investors who will put to good use the large water bodies in Luapula.
This contained in a statement issued by the UPND in Lusaka yesterday.
“Luapula has a lot of potential in terms of tourism and fishing industries. We need to find investors in these sectors who can set-up state-of-the-art lodges and hotels so as to create employment for the local communities,” he said in a statement issued by his party.
Mr Hichilema and his entourage, who arrived in Chienge to a thunderous welcome on Thursday, were met by former Minister of Finance Katele Kalumba and some senior traditional leaders.
The UPND leader also said that there is need to combat the problem of mosquitoes and tsetse-flies that are causing human and animal diseases.
He also paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Puta of the Bwile people who blessed him before having a private conversation with him.
Mr Hichilema further met the sub-chief and more that 50 headmen from the entire Bwile land.
The headmen complained that the Patriotic Front (PF) has allegedly been very vindictive in the manner it has been handling matters of traditional leadership in the country.
Mr Hichilema is also scheduled to meet more than 40 political leaders from PF and MMD in the area who have pledged to campaign for the UPND.
He is later expected to travel to Mwansabombwe, Nchelenge, Kawambwa and Mporokoso, before Chinsali, Mpika, Kasama and Luwingu this weekend.
Okay, How come HH is standing alone by the shore when they said he is Dr Kats. Nice to also see lake Mweru and the Three standing in front. I think Dr Kats has done a disappearing act on me. He must be annoyed with me. Lol
Satanists HH and Katele Kalumba together and trying hard to deceive the people of Luapula, Katele and his satanic laptop in cohoots with HH. Abash to fooling Zambians, HH continues to show his true colours by aligning himself with known thieves and scoundrels such as Mutati, Katele, Dipak!!!! This man has no shame as do his followers that are merely imports from Southern Province living in other provinces. No right thinking Zambian will vote for this liar and thief that is HH.

tourists will come to luapula!! just eradicate witchcraft,,,, those unnatural lightings we hear of from mununga,,,,,,, plus HH why are you standing with the chief witch of luapula near the water??… are you peforming some ritual or what???… just checking no malice
HH is visionary. It’s what visionary leaders do.
Yes thats the we want. Lake Mweru could be another tourist hub in Africa, with all those nice sandy beaches. Boat racing, boat parties could be attracting tourists who want to enjoy the thrill of diving and swimming in fresh waters.
Apart from that, I think the surrounding areas of these lakes have oil, just like lake Malawi, and lake victoria in Uganda.
Zambia needs a leader like HH to actualise all these investments in northern provinces, Luapula and Muchinga.
Luapula is definitely heading HH’s way. What an insult those PABWATO guys have been to this great province! They used to shout “PABWATO,” “PABWATO” when they did not even know how to paddle a real canoe on a lake and bring meaningful development to our great and beautiful lakes!
This is a catastrophe. I am about to shed tears. PF were a disaster and a total disappointment. RB’s MMD does not even deserve the mere mention of its name in the province. Where in the world did MMD find this clueless old man called RB?
@2020vision what about people aligning themselves with EL are they any better? EL himself “chewed” his clients money. Take the log out of your eye before you take a speck from another.
For Your Information – Feb 21, 2011 on LT online – Witchcraft fears rock PF –
“Fears of witchcraft have rocked the opposition Patriotic Front as leaders jostling for adoption as members of Parliament (MPs) have reportedly been seeking spiritual intervention from witchdoctors to give them an edge against their internal and external competitors.”
How many things can one promise to deliver in 18 months sure? And some are delighted in saying “yes” that is what we want, “Yes” boat parties, “Yes” development.
As ever, truth remains that the gullible shall say “Yes” because it is HH. The wise will look beyond the name and question how realistic it is that this, among other promises and national dynamics, can be achieved. The answer will probably: Unrealistic and therefore an empty promise…
Vote wisely in Jan 2015

Politician…..
Awe mwandi twabepwa pafula. …
Can someone tell this HH guy to just shut up!!!!
Promises Promises Promises
2015 vote PF ( Edgar )
I thank you
I thought this HH guy has run out of Promises. ..Just where is he getting all these promises…who is supplying him with his Promises. I think his promises are made in China.
2015 vote PF ( Edgar )
I thank you
The thief must be thinking , “this could all be mine when i become president , they think i stole during privatisation they haven’t seen nothing yet.The lake could be mine and i will bring my stolen animals here.”
Our hardworking president. He’s already seeing potential in Luapula. He is indeed our jubilee president. God bless you.
40 mps from PF and MMD ! Aren’t those PF MPs the same one who endorsed EL for PF presidency?
Those of you who thought that HH will have minority in parliament – think again. These MP practice politics of the stomach.
Welcome to #FlightHH2015 & 2016.
Am the receiving air hostess on board this flight to plot 1.
@pretty
You absolutely right.Leader of HH ‘s calibre see money making potential where these f00ls in both MMD and PF have failed to see.
If HH does not win these elections, very soon he will embark on investing heavily in Luapula, northern and muchinga. For sure he can have more ranges, fish farming, tourism(hotels) and food processing plants.
Those northern areas have the proximity of ready export markets for food products.
I should have said whether he wins these elections or not he will surely take his investments in these areas.
@wanzelu thanks. But as for me and my household HH is winning. Can’t imagine it otherwise. All the odds are against PF. Report am receiving from Zed is that it is HH all the way. Kopala, Lusaka, NWP, Southern & Central so far are behind him. My guess is Western will go the same way. RB shud’t even step there. We saw how Edgar was treated last time he went to Western. Only a hand full of cadres received him. PF can forget votes from all farmers and their families be it NP, MP, LP & EP.
PF is in trouble. Guy Scott is standing his grounds. These guys organised PF cadres to mock him calling him”piggy” actually “piiigiii” & they honestly think they can reconcile.
For me and my clan it’s
Viva #FlightHH2015 & 2016.
What a picturesque place! Exactly the sort of area that would attract many tourists if properly promoted.
I am trying to figure out who would give a red arrow for a pretty truthful and accurate comment. There are so many heartbreakingly beautiful views and it is incredible that we have lakes with white sandy shores. Locals will benefit greatly if we find new ways to involve them in being stake holders. After all the resorts of today are modelled on modern interpretations of our village life.
Modernise the villages so that they all look like resort towns which a tourist will pay good money to visit and the benefits will help the locals more than crumbs from the table of another tour company with foreign HQ who takes payments out of Zed with nothing coming in to the area…
A Phiri mwakamba cacendi mdala. Those are the progressive thoughts we need in Zambia: See potential and make moves to capitalize on it. Our people need that for real.
Harry Kalaba is one of the PF MPs campaigning for HH(lol). As it was in 1991 when KK lost to the opposition despite having MPs in parliament so shall it be. As it was in 2011 when MMD lost to the opposition despite having majority MPs in parly so shall it be.
Lets go HH its our time! We can definitely boost tourism in this province.
Luapula is already ear-marked for development under PF government plans. what good is a lodge without roads leading to Luapula Province? Badala (HH), it’s good you’ve seen how much of a campaign task you have ahead of yourself if people have to accept you in 2026! Zambia is a very big country and so far PF government has made inroads into the remotest of rural areas. We cant afford to remove a performing government
So you believe in the resurrection of the dead? PF are already six feet under.
Beautiful lake.
The plan to bring investors to open lodges is the wrong one. Giving locals loans and hotel/lodge management training (especially young people) is better. Giving them small parcels of land to build lodges and buy furnishings etc. is better, than setting them up a future as cheap labour.
Look at UK, Bed and Breakfasts are run by families in what is essentially private homes. After registering and passing inspection and tests for safety, they can go on to tout for visiting Tourist.
It is wrong to give land to Investors. So they make the big money and the citizens get dregs.
Stupid, stupid. Enough of this sort of thinking from ALL Zambian politicians. It is just lazy thinking.
This is where he is getting all wrong.
You are a chikopo..! To you the word investor means someone coming from the moon to invest??? Come on; opening up the area to investors does not necessarily mean that you will have aliens coming in. It could be the locals, Zambians like you. I would encourage you to be that investor.
@7 Patriot Abroad & @ 7.1 pipo
You both have no clue as to what tourism is. Your ignorance is vexing and totally absurd.
HH does not believe in that ideology. He believes us Zambians can do it even better than foreigners. Look at him, he did not inherit any farm like the Guy scotts and other have done , but is by far the most successful commercial farmer Zambia has ever seen.
When he says he will work to empower Zambians and formulate policies to favour Zambian investors he meant it.
HH is the only one who knows the down side of relying on foreign investment too much. Too much foreign investment, results in externalisation of Forex much needed for local investment.
HH believes, if foreigners can do it then Zambians can do it even better. He has proved that already to us in his personal capacity.
HH has a grand vision for Zambia.
@comrade patriot well said once again comrade..why should we be in a rush to give everything to investors..HH has the same mindset as the likes of the treacherous Guy Scott that is always looking at selling Zambia to the highest bidder..no we wont allow such nonsense..not in our beautiful Luapula and not in our beautiful lower Zambezi!!!
****VIVA EDGAR LUNGU 2015****
Atleast u hav said hw u intend to exactly do sumthin, unlike always ” i’ll put measures,i’ll put measures” without explainin anythin.then again the pipo u associate wit, katele kalumba of all pipo sure? That man’s middle name is corruption
Your Yesu Kristos did not shun anyone.
Do you know that Katele with all his baggage is not only respected in this area but he is a Zambian too? Chances are that HH did not seek him, but Katele sought him. What did you expect HH to do, chase him away? That would have been a stupid thing to do.
I can drink water in from a cup offered to me by a Jezebel that does not put me in bed with her.
It is good that majority Zambians are now showing confidence in HH ,the little isolated groupings remaining with PF and MMD will soon come to the fore. Thanks
Out of all those pretenders to the throne, HH is quite simply the best and exactly the tonic needed to move the nation forward. It would be unforgivable foolishness for Zambians not to see it.Heis a thinking man with clear vision and a sense of purpose of where he wants to take the country.Hakainde Hichilema has no egocentric airs about him, he simply wants to serve his people.Look at the picture. The man is not even wearing a wrist watch when most people with his kind of money would be flashing an expensive Rolex. It is small things like this that show the true character of a person. After Sata’s theatrical era,Zambians really should grasp this opportunity to bring back seriousness into how affairs of nation should be run. I speak as a Zambian who loves my people and I am not Tonga,if you…
Most of us HH supporters on this forum are not of his tribe. I don’t give a sh!t about tribe. When Chiluba, my kinsman went to Plot One, I did not receive a check in the mail for being a tribemate and a close family member. In fact I never visited State House during his terms in office.
When Sata got into office, I never expected a check to come to me for being from the same tribe as the president.
But I tell you what I cursed every president every time I hit a pothole in my nice car, every time I experienced a black out, every time I bought lunch for mothers breaking rocks on the roadside with children who should be in school. Poverty his us all equally regardless of which province you hell from. If one candidate makes sense over the other, IN POLITICS, I am going with him or her.
Katele is not a factor in luapula. FTJ campained for RB in luapula, but still RB got his worst ressults from Luapula. So bwana if you use your tribe to think instead of your heard I am sorry.
Yo HH has been a tribalist all the way
Apart from Kenneth Kaunda, give me the name of any other sitting Zambian president who was not tribalistic? You may have a genuine concern. However, you are setting-up a new standard for HH alone. You are using a double standard – one for a Tonga and another for a Bemba. As far as I am concerned, BOTH BEMBAS and TONGAS have had a tendency toward being tribalistic, at least in their voting patterns – SINCE 1964. But I don’t hate either of them.
Both Michael Sata and Frederick Chiluba were frighteningly tribalistic. And so was Rupiah Banda and even Mwanawasa. Your concern over HH, it would seem, is not because you perceive him to be tribal, but rather because he is Tonga. In other words, you tribally biased against Tongas. In that sense, it is you who is tribal and NOT HH.
Sata was a tribalist even before he became president. Remember the incident at Nalusanga Gate when he was caught with game meat? Some of you who may have been born at the time, that was the birth of “Dingi.”
Sata came up with a strategy that personified tribalism. But as Edgar Lungu is hiding the information on who killed Ruth Mbandu, it go covered up. I know what Sata said and did because I was there watching him. The gallant government officer who caught him did everything by the book.
If Edgar Lungu wants to extend Sata’s legacy of tribalism, I am sorry he has lost my vote and that of my clan.
This chief Puta mambala looks like a hog who likes too much opulence. Just the kind of piece of sh!t who makes me question the entire chiefdom thing in 21st century Zambia.
Nyau, grow up! You can make your point without being disrespectful to anyone, least a royal! Look yourself in the mirror you can do better than that! Be a good role model of your family!
But where is the picture of the rally, why you only show pictures of the lake
Black men don’t know how to run no nation!
How old are you?
VIVA HH. Vote HH for President 2015-2016. The only anergetic man to rule over Zambia
CHIENGI IS A VERY REMOTE AREA IN ZAMBIA. WHENEVER CHILDREN SEE A CAR HONKING THEY WILL BE EXCITED AND WILL CROWD AROUND IT. THERE IS NOTHING SPECIAL AND POLITICAL ABOUT THAT. BESIDES THESE CHILDREN HAVE HEARD THAT THERE IS A TRIBALIST CALLED HH WHO WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT. SO WHEN THEY SEE HIM THEY WANT TO KNOW HOW HE LOOKS LIKE. SO THESE ARE JUST SCHOOL CHILDREN ON HOLIDAY WHO HAVE NOTHING TO DO. THEY ARE NOT EVEN REGISTERED VOTERS.
…..yes now HH’s advisors have made improvements in the strategy i.e. taken him to places he needs to go to – not always to Choma, Mongu, etc but to Chiengi, Mpika, and even to Sata’s village because he will a president of the entire nation!! Well done guys!!
I see Katele coaching HH the disappearing act !!
Start by improving your province santa clause!!!!
tourists will come to luapula!! just eradicate witchcraft,,,, those unnatural lightings we hear of from mununga,,,,,,, plus HH why are you standing with the chief witch of luapula near the water??… are you peforming some ritual or what???… just checking no malice
Mununga could be a hit as a tourist destination for it’s witchcraft. Imagine dozens of witches and wizards demonstrating their evil arts openly. Lots of people are fascinated by witchcraft and magic, this could be a crowd puller and foreign exchange generator. I know of a guest house in Cape Town that takes its guests on a walking tour of township to experience the every life of Gugulethu. The tour includes a visit to a local sangoma. Just imagine how thrilling to watch a wizard or witch demonstrating the process of how to make akalumba or walking on water or flying at night and entering a house through a wall and having sex with another guy’s wife/husband ! Mununga could be rich.
I don’t see any reason for Edigar Lungu to do campaigning as Sata did for him in advance. 20th January is taking long so that we give EL what is due to him: HH has seen for himself… hence ending up saying what is happening in the province. In 2021, we shall give HH our voets wholeheartedly.
So, why the hell are they begging Scott to join them? Hha!
HH has a vision (you might disagree with him). Lungu has no vision except to follow that of a dead man. Between the two leaders who would you follow?
Um… I like riddles… but you’ve only mentioned one leader so this is an unfair question. Chuckle.
EL has a vision of Sata which is ‘dying and be buried at Embassy Park!
Who wants to follow before their date? Only Kaponyas can’t see that Edgar is leading them to the grave.
Flight HH 2015 is taking off.
Zambia Forward and look back again.
A large expanse of unpolluted clear water. Wide uncontaminated sandy beaches. Sunny and fantastic weather. Not overpopulated with people. A peaceful local community and Country as a whole.
If this is not manna from heaven, then I don’t know what manna is.
Then on this manna build a small international Airport (I seem to remember there is an Airport nearby already?). Put incentives in the Tax regime. Be consistent in your policies, and then advertise like a madman locally and internationally, especially in cold climates like here in UK where right now as I am typing this, the temperature outside is 1 degree C below zero!.
Remain consistent and the results over a period of time will blow any normal person’s socks off!
Go HH go. Go Zambia go.
latest people in mongu are demanding for beer before edger kachsu lungu adress them, saying they hear he was dishing out drums and crates of chibuku so that they turn in large numbers .. uko
That’s what you are good at tu upnd. Demeaning others. Come January you will be quiet with shame
Where ever HH goes in this country, he sees potential. This is because every province has so much untapped potential and HH has an eye for business. He also knows that when you bring together natural resources, capital, labor and appropriate technology, you have created industry, employment and you are on the journey to reducing poverty! What more can Zambians ask for in a candidate than one with investment experience like HH? The man owns successful businesses, he sits on boards of international companies, he is a successful entrepreneur. When you see the man promising, it is because he can see the potential and when given a chance to govern he will not take stories from his ministers but deliver on those promises! Just wait for his CV when it is published! Go HH Go!
Luapula province has a huge potential for tourism for sure. It’s sad that this has never been exploited. If given a chance, HH has the potential to become a great president, one who will bring unprecedented development to the country.
HH you are the best candidate, with or without promises we will vote for you. Please people vote wisely, don’t vote on tribal lines. if you vote for a kachasu man and he messes up with the economy, we are all affected regardless of tribe; there’s o separate kwacha exchange rate for Tongas and another for Bembas, fuel prices are also the same regardless of tribe.
HH for president 2015!
Baunze bangwele.
Viva HH
@11 GRAND
You have it all wrong my friend. HH is hitting it big. The sooner you make-up your mind to dance to his music the better. Luapula province is clearly heading HH’s way in 2015 – thanks to PF’s shoddy performances and street mongering.
Promises-Promises-Promises and what will be realy done?????????????
@Concerned, these promises are based on what should have been done by previous regimes but have not been done. These things must be done for our country to develop! Our country has amazing potential in all provinces! To tap this potential leadership is critical! We have no choice mwana! When you have a chance buy the book “From Third World to First World” by Lee Kuan Yew. It is available in Planet Books at Arcades. You will appreciate what am talking about! PF KUYA BEBELE!
I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY THESE AREAS ARE UNDER-DEVELOPED. ABOUT 6 OF OUR PROVINCES IN ZAMBIA HAVE THE ABILITY TO GENERATE THEIR OWN ELECTRICITY. THOSE SAND BEACHES NIN SAMFYA,GIVE THEM TO A WESTWERN COUNTRY AND YOU’LL SEE HOW THEY WILL BE TRANSFORMED!! ALL AROUND THERE,EACH PROVINCE CAN SUSTAIN ITSELF WITHOUT RELYING ON OTHER PROVINCES.LUAPULA-FISHING,FARMING AND TOURISM (THERE’S? A FALLS THERE AS WELL? )NORTHERN-FISHING AND FARMING-I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A FALLS THERE AS WELL?-POTENTIAL FOR TOURISM,EASERN-FARMING-AMANENEKELA-TOURISM AS IN HICTH-HIKING?,N/WESTERN APART FROM MINERALS,IT’S A SOURCE OF THE GREAT ZAMBEZI RIVER WHOSE WATERS GO RIGHT UP TO THE INDIAN OCEAN-TOURISM-MARKET IT SO PEOPLE CAN COME AND SEE THE SOURCE OF THE MIGHTY WATERS!! WESTERN-MINERALS,FARMING ETC ETC- WHAT…
WHAT AM TRYING TO SAY IS : LACK OF EXPOSURE BY OUR POLITICINAS HAS MADE THEM FAIL TO REALISE THE POTENTIAL ZAMBIA HAS TO BE AN ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE IN THE REGION! WHEN I WAS GROWING UP IN CHIMWEMWE,I USED TO SEE IN THE NIGHT LIGHTS WIZZING ACROSS THE SKYS AND WE USED TO THINK “INDOSHI”.LO AND BEHOLD I EMIGRATED TO THE WESTERN COUNTRY,ONLY TO DISCOVER THT THOSE SHOOTING LIGHTS IN THE MID OF THE NIGHT WAS ACTUALLYWHATTHE CALL SHOOTING STARS OR METEORS!! BOTTOM LINE-THOSE LIGHTS SEEN IN LUAPULA AND NORTHERN ARE METEORS AND SHOOTING STARS.
BOTTOM LINE-ELECT SOME ONE WHO HAS EYES TO SEE THE POTENTIAL FOR THESE AREAS.THE SO CALLE WITCH CRAFT IS BECAUSE PEOPLE DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO! I HAVE BEEN TO SAMFYA AND MY DREAM IS TO BRING MY KIDS TO FROLICK IN THOSE WATERS.
VOTE HH FOR FORWARDNESS
@ Mei Matungu,
I can surely promise you that your HH will be third in the following provinces, LP, NP, MP, CoP, LsP, EP, CeP. He may come out second in WP & NWP.
@33 GRAND
You have humour, a lot of it. May God spare you a heart attack – you are bound to be shocked.
grand i have just finished talking to people who are campaigning in luapula nothern muchinga kaputa name them. its fantastic there so take things serious you may have bp. on the day of change you will refuse to breath on your own the earlier you join the wining team the better my dear friend. oh go go go upnd viava hh 2015 is around the corner. dont say you were not told.
@blackbull
@Mei Matungu
My friend Yo UPND has been claming alot of stuff from the previous elections and yet the reality is that they have been reducing in surport. From the first elections these have been the results up to 2011. From 24%, to 22% and finaly 18% in 2011. Even to go back to 24% its not achieveble in three months
@35 GRAND
It’s the barometer of Zambia’s political landscape that you are failing to read. PF could have had a chance – they are a mess to themselves. No self-respecting country can ever retain such a confused party in power. Even the children on the streets are aware about PF’s chicken fights. The whole civil service is aghast with them.
There is no where in the whole world where you can run on a beer ticket and expect to win. That is expecting too much. Already there is still one court case that is pending at the supreme court. That is all PF. What are you trying to make of Zambians???? If that is what Uncle Bob promised this Vodka chap, then he lied to him. PF needs to go back to the drawing board, and start all over again. That is my kind advice to them.
I Think HHH is. Golden Jubilee God has blessed us a NATION.
VIVA HH. God is SO MARVELOUS.
@ Mei Matungu
How did your party loose Mangango by elections after boasting that it will be a land slide. Thats in W province, only 4 months ago.
How did your party loose zambezi by elections in Nw province, the seat was held by your party vice president. Thats only three months ago. FACTS
Can you please bring facts here not assumptions bwana. I always provide you with facts. Bring facts
Now we know who is bitter. We know who the haters are. They fail to talk sense…….except unfounded slander
It is pretty moronic for some folks to suggest HH’s plans will come to fruition in 18 months. He has not said so and never indicated the timelines of the development plans his party, UPND intends to implement if elected. Folks, Rome was not built in a day, as the saying goes! However you need to start somewhere.., even when learning to walk as a baby, you start by learning how to sit, crawl, stand and finally make your attempt at one step. The object for all these processes is to walk and run, and you do not go through them, maybe you may not walk or your walking will be delayed in your development. This where Zambia is.., Luapula a jewel as my relatives from their tell me, but cannot still walk today! Learn somethings folks!
In case you dont know HH in 2011 got 1 700 votes in Luapula against PF’s 151,800!so he lost by more than 150 000 to PF there.so to think that Luapula is being taken up by HH is a daylight dream!plus PF has tarred Mansa Luwingu road,Kawambwa-Luwingu road,Nchelenge-Chiengi road,Mansa-Mufulira via Congo DR road, built up clinics, hospitals, school, open up new districts, etc to appreciate votes PF got from there!many voters have never seen a tarred road, today they have it!can such voters surely hate PF and vote for HH?in your daylight dreams yes!
