PF presidential candidate Edgar Lungu has won the presidential election to become the sixth President.
Mr Lungu polled 807,925 votes beating his closest rival Hakainde Hichilema of UPND who polled 780,168 votes.
Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda declared Mr Lungu as President at 22:00 hours .
Mr Lungu’s votes represent 48.33 percent while Mr Hakainde’s votes represent 46.67 percent.
FDD president Edith Nawakwi polled 15,321 of the total votes cast.
MMD Nevers Mumba polled 14,609 representing while Tilyenji Kaunda of UNIP got 9,737 with Eric Chanda of fourth Republic getting 8,054.
Elias Chipimo of NAREP got 6,002 while Godfrey Miyanda of Heritage got 5,757 and Daniel Pule of CDP had 3,293.
Ludwig Sondashi of FDA got 2,073 while Peter Sinkamba of Green party got 1,410.
Giving the update ECZ chairperson Ireen Mambilima said the results were from 150 constituencies.
The total registered voters were 5,166,084 and the total votes cast were 1,671,662.
The rejected votes were 17,313 and the percentage turn out was 32.36 per cent.

Elections have consequences and the consequence achieved today is that of re-electing the same party that caused soo much confusion after the death of Sata. I hope that Lungu performs a major cull of certain individuals such as that Luo, Kambwili, Nsanda etc. He needs to surround himself with fresh blood. Hopefully nomba he will have a vision for the country instead of relying on the good-will of a dead president.
What a sad day in the history of Zambia. He is definitely not my president. We have just gone 50 years back. Prepare yourselves for even worse poverty and extremely hard times in Zambia. Don’t argue. When I went back to study in 2010 after recession, I had to wait 2 years for my funding AND then the university, sued me for my student Housing Cost during my exam month. Horrible, I had to try do 6 Digital Projects while preparing my own defence. It was soooooo stressful a weaker student could have done the same as the kid.
Everyone here in the UK is struggling with access to Doctors appointments and Hospitals are cracking under weight of numbers turning up to emergency rooms because Doctors are not keeping up in the confused system.

HH has lost an election, lost money and other resources, he is now broken hearted, and so on. Money cannot give him satisfaction. You can only have satisfaction if you have Jesus in your life. UPND need to find a candidate from another tribe to give it a national character. Zambians will never settle for a Lozi or Tonga. These two tribes are not appealing to the rest of the country. Alternatively, UPND should disband and join other parties. Harry Mwaanga tried so hard to become president of Zambia but in the end he disbanded his ANC and joined ranks with UNIP.

Democracy is not about forcing people to vote for your prefered candidate. Let HH do somthing about himself if he is to win an election. On a serious note, a word of advice to HE Edgar. Listen to all Zambians and take the best advice for the country. Wisdom does not lie in Cabinet, especially if you keep the same. The majority of them don’t seem to have any good or original ideas, they have to be led all the time and I think you know them all. The economy needs to encourage entrepreneurs and not discourage them, Zambians and foreign investors alike, investment has no colour or nationality as long as it is good. Don’t act populist on mining policies but be sensible and practical; look at the longer term rather than short term populist gains which will not help dig out the copper and provide the much sought after jobs for Zambians. Finally, Listen, Listen, Listen and don’t tire of listening.

It hasn’t been an easy day for us here at the Zambian watchdog. We didn’t see this one coming.Our editorial is broken because we know that it will be very hard for HH to win in 2016. All hope is gone for UPND. Edgar Lungu now has enough ammunition to finish off our candidate HH.
Munkombwe really made things tough for us. We hope HH should just step down as UPND leader otherwise this could be the end of UPND.
Now we don’t have news anymore…i don’t know how we will manage to pay for hosting of our website because our Web traffic is very low since Edgar was declared President. We tried to call HH and his phone is off. (the subscriber called is either outside coverage area or has their phone switched off)
I can see that HH suporters are really biter people. No wonder they all together with HH do not belong to the rulling class. And I can see UPND undergoing self unhilation – come 2016 the party will not exist. It will be PF for life.

You were the underdog, you started campaigning later, on a smaller budget, yet you came out victorious. My only plea is: “DO NOT RENEGE ON THE 20% ROYALTY ON OPEN-PIT MINING!” This is the only chance Zambia has to get her fair share from her mineral resources. I can set up a computerised system for remotely assessing the minerals extracted by using the waste deposited on surface ±5% accuracy, if needed, I’m prepared to come back to Zambia.

Yesterday after I read this posting the EL was 6th I was DEVOID of emotions. I was like WHATEVER. I started comforting family in Zambia saying Things like it was God’s will etc.
But tonite when I read through the comments I should confess that I feel provoked basically because the results I read are a fraud.
