The Vice President says the allegations against public prosecutor, Mutembo Nchito, are serious because they involve money laundering, racketeering and theft.
George Kunda, was speaking when he received a petition from New generation party and the Leadership Search.
The two institutions are demanding the removal of Mr. Nchito from the Task Force on Corruption.
Mr. Kunda said Government will consider all the allegations against Mr. Nchito when looking at the petition.
He said Mr. Nchito as a public prosecutor was appointed through the Director of Public Prosecution and the Attoney General.
He said the two offices will have to be consulted when considering the public out-cry on Mr. Nchito’s continued stay in the task force.
Leadership Search executive Director, Edwin Lifwekelo said Mr Nchito should be relieved of his duties because his stay would frustrate the investigations initiated by government on Zambian Airways.

If it believed that Dora will not influence her investigations, why will Nchito influence his …when these are similar offence of equivalent weight. On law should apply to all, not to an individual.

Dora & Nchito’s cases are completely different,Dora’s case is one whose allegations were made by a well known tabloid which is full of spin.Siliya was defended by the appointing authority however the case is still being investigated.Regarding Nchito,it is evident for everyone to see that something went wrong somewhere,a company collapsed & it is normal to investigate the circumstances under which it collapsed especially when the Directors are getting richer at the end of the day.Nchito has too much to do,you cannot be CEO of an airline,a private lawyer & public prosecutor where does he stand?

The case against Chiluba is quite complex for the DPP to deal with alone that’s why Levy drafted in the Nchito’s who i believe have the biggest law firm in Zambia,i went through the LAZ list of lawyers & affiliates,i was quite surprised to see that the Nchito’s should be the biggest private employer of lawyers in Zambia or at least those registered with LAZ so u can imagine why Levy had confidence in the Nchito’s Chambers.

Where did these allegations come from? I did not hear that Mr Nchito has been charged. Money laundering is getting dirty money from somewhere and passing it through legitimate businesses to come out as clean profits. According the Zambianwatchdog,Nchito is considering resigning as Public Prosecutor,i wish he could be suspended soon instead of him resigning because if he’s cleared of the ZA issue,he has to finish the Chiluba cases he started,i have faith in him as a lawyer not as CEO of a corporate entity especially one that is struggling in a sector that is doomed the world over.
Yes, Chiluba must have had a hand in all this and because Bwezani is trapped in Dora’s scandal, this is a clear way of diverting public attention and stopping the momentum. Mutembo’s removal will all but delay Chiluba’s cases and possibly force GRZ to enter into a Nolle Prosecu. Yes, I am very disappointed withBwezani and his tandem of thieves.
I hope things do not go on a stand still. I believe that there can still be continuity in the TASK FORCE’s work even if Mr. M. Nchito is not there. Just consider a case in which a major prosecutor were to die, does such entail that proceeding stop? Surely, someone can always take over and see that all continues to yield positive results.
So, let us not worry about what will happen if Mr M. Nchito is out of the TF’s job for others will carry the mantle. For now, I wich Mr M. Nchito all the very best.

The combined team of law enforcement agences that was set up to investigate possible criminal conduct in the defunct Zambian Airways have so far visited Finance Bank.Sources have revealed that the team of investigators went to Finance Bank Long Acres branch to find out what collateral Zambian Airways gave for it to obtain a huge loan.The source could not disclose the amount involved but said Finance bank is not being investigated a such but that the officers just wanted to know how…
According to the source, the investigators were informed that the loan was guranteerd by National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA). no 87. you do not know what ur talking about: Zambian Airways has been known to have operated on a tight shoe-string budget. The revelation that it has over the years obtained loans and obligations totalling over USD29million is puzzling as no evidence exist that the funds were poured into Zambian Airways. This is the focus of criminal investigations by Agencies to attempt to understand what directors of Zambian Airways did with this USD29million.
The theft and fraud was perpetrated by directors of Zambian Airways using political influence, to siphone money from public bodies on the pretext that it was a ‘national airline’ and required funding, loans or couldn’t pay statutory obligations.
Its CEO, Mutembo Nchito has consistently targeted public bodies to ‘finance the operations of Zambian Airways’ even when the history of the airline shows that government privatised the airline to avoid the tax payer running such an enterprise.
It is ironical that Mutembo even targeted ZCCM-Investment Holdings, technically the former owner of the airline, urging them to buy shares in the troubled airline.
ZCCM-IH were careful, and commissioned a due diligence inspection. The report showed that the airline was bankrupt and relied on external sources of money to run. On this account, ZCCM-IH rejected Mutembo’s overtures and threw out the application. Zambian Airways claims that they withdrew from the negotiations. ZCCM-IH ejected the airline from its premises at Mukuba Pension House.
The probe has been widened to key persons at Bank of Zambia and Ministry of Finance who deliberately allowed and supported the current state of affairs. Despite the financial records and audit reports showing that Zambian Airways consistently suffered annual losses, lacked solvency plans and was clearly a financial failure, Mutembo sought more and more loans.
Former Fin Minister Peter Ngandu Magande and current BOZ chief Caleb Fundanga are said to be targeted in a wider probe, for their role in allowing Zambian Airways accumulate a total debt of over USD29million.
Magande is said to have used his office to dissuade and stop statutory bodies such as ZRA, NAPSA and NAC from collecting debt
this whole saga of the Post/ZA/LPM family tree axis is now unravelling. So if all these guys are going into jail for receiving TV’s for Gods sake why should Mutembo escape jail for fraud, racketeering and extortion? let them be investigated and let the country be cleansed from the MMD rot and allow many other zambians who can provide better leadership.
