President Edgar Lungu has confirmed that he will this afternoon travel to South Africa for specialist treatment.
Speaking to journalists in Chawama after witnessing the filing in of nominations by PF candidate Lawrence Sichalwe this morning, President Lungu said he was feeling much after being discharged from Maina Soko military hospital last night.
‘I am feeling much better no wonder am here, will just have to travel to South Africa this afternoon where doctors will decide whether to do a surgery or give me medication,’President Lungu said.
The president said people should not worry because he will come back alive from South Africa after the medical procedure.
‘I will keep you updated. I hope to come back alive, who wants to die?’ a jovial sounding President Lungu questioned.
And President Lungu has called for peaceful campaigns in the forthcoming parliamentary by elections in Chawama, Senga Hill and Masaiti. President Lungu is confident that the PF will retain the Chawama seat.President Lungu called on people in Chawama to turn up in large numbers and vote for their preferred candidate in the April 14 by election.
‘Let them turn up in numbers and vote, I came here in Chawama because this place has a special place in my heart and I want the PF to retain the seat,’ he said.
Mr Lungu walked a distance of over 100 meters to the nomination centre as he waved at his supporters who stood beside the road. The president was flanked by commerce deputy minister Miles Sampa, PF Secretary General Davies Chama, Lusaka province minister Obvious Mwaliteta and state house staff.

The president should stop drinking beer if at all he drinks. the main cause of Hypoglycemia is excessive intake of alcohol because the liver fails to break down the stored glycogen to glucose resulting into a severe hangover. he will better manage his condition if he stops alcohol. May someone who is medically inclined educate me about this condition of narrowing of the food pipe? How does this condition make someone collapse? Also the issue of low sugar level is being mentioned, does this mean that HE does not eat well and enough food? We also hear of this drinking problem that he has. I once took alcohol in excess while on campus and it was not easy for me to eat and even swallow food. I had mixed akiki wine with some local brandy I can’t remember now. I felt very weak the following day but some sugar solution (Zigolo did some trick) Even soup of cows hooves (vimbombo) can assist in such instances.

We need a clause in the new Constitution which says all public officials are to be treated in public hospitals within Zambia when they fall ill. If they want to go abroad for specialist treatment, let them do so at their own private expenses.
