CHIPOLOPOLO midfielder Chisamba Lungu has claimed that media reports that he castigated the selection process in the Zambia National Soccer Team were misquoted.
In a statement released by his manager Jeremiah Namitondo, the Russian based midfielder said his words have been distorted and others are using it to fight their own battles against the current FAZ administration and technical bench.
The statement by his manager read;
Its quiet unfortunate that, some sections of the media have decided to distort the interview that was offered by Chisamba Lungu on his status in the current Zambia national team setup. As a player, an AFCON winning player, he offered his opinion on various issues, some of which have been distorted and others are using to fight their own battles against the current FAZ administration and technical bench.
I therefore wish to categorically state that Chisamba Lungu respects Zambia National Team’s current setup and is not against young players coming through to the national team as suggested by some sections of the media and fans. Reference can be made to the recent interview he did with Matimba Nkonje on ZNBC, his view is that the “mix” between the young and the experienced players must be there in order to attain good results.
If any player in this world or rather in Zambia is happy to sit on the bench, then that’s the kind of player Zambia does not need and therefore only normal for any player to be frustrated in such circumstances and this should not be taken in any other way apart from the fact that Chisamba Lungu is patriotic enough to fight to bring back Zambia’s glory days.
Chisamba Lungu’s achievements on and off the pitch are there to be seen and his attitude towards the game has not changed and thus the recognition given to him by his club, Ural. His hopes are that he plays a pivotal role in helping Zambia qualify for its first world cup which will be held in Russia, where he currently ply his trade.
Thanks for the correction and I, for one, salute you!
Everybody loves Chisamba Lungu….
In journalism, when one say I was misquoted, it is the same as saying “I regret saying that”.
The boy got excited and ended up saying those rubbish staff. In life you can not always expect smooth sealing. He should have taken positive things out of being on bench. His reaction can only be attributed to pride. You win my favor for coming back and correct yourself. Zambia is bigger than Chisamba. Mayuka was dropped and the boy kept quite as a sign of wisdom.
NO, dont regret Chisamba.you said facts full stop.The zambian bench is full of dull people.there are zambians that would want to contribute to the zambian game but for Kalusha.Former good footballers are some of the them.How do you continue to appoint coaches that can not take the game anywhere and they have failed before.Janza,George and simukonda,kampamba are dull people.Lets try others like…..
Thanks fulish country men and women
The administration of any organisation has a very big impact on its performance. Many times we have blamed players and coaches but the problem at FAZ still remains.
Iam left to wonder how one man has been left to be on the helm of FAZ for a long time now. Like I always say, “NOBODY HAS A MONOPOLY OF KNOWLEDGE” . I feel that there seems to be muyayaya syndrome at FAZ and that has affected the performance of our beautiful game greatly.
We appreciate what Kalu has done for Zambia. He has been there for Zambia through thick and thin but i feel it is time he stepped aside.
It does not need to take a scandal like what happened to Sepp blater the disgraced former Fifa president before you step aside.
