PRELIMINARY plans for the construction of the Lusaka to Ndola dual carriageway by Road Development Agency (RDA) have been concluded.
RDA senior public relations manager Loyce Saili said in an interview in Lusaka that the agency was now in the process of identifying a contractor to carry out the project in the quickest possible time.
Ms Saili said several construction companies had pushed in their bids and the agency would thoroughly scrutinise the tenders to ensure that the best bidder is engaged.
“The advertising has already been done and this project will be executed through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) to encourage private sector participation,” she said.
Ms Saili said the agency was mobilizing funds to clear the contractor engaged to rehabilitate the Great East Road.
She said the contractor, Stefanutti Stocks Construction Zambia Limited, was currently working on the drainage system while funds to complete the remainder of the road were arranged.
Ms Saili also said the contractor engaged to realign the Ndola to Kitwe dual carriageway has been directed to redo some portions of the stretch that was poorly done.
“There were issues raised over the work done by China Jiangxi on the Ndola to Kitwe dual carriageway and we have asked the contractor to redo the works at their own cost,” she said.
Ms Saili added that a contractor had been identified for the Ndola to Mufulira road project and works would commence once the Treasury released funds to the agency.
NDOLA DUAL CARRIAGE WAYS WAS A SERIOUS MESS. IN OTHER COUNTRIES ALOT OF PEOPLE WILL BE ARRESTED AND RESIGN ON THEIR OWN. PIPO LEST BE CONSIOUS WITH THE WAY WE USED OUR RESOURCES. FOR THAT MATTER BORROWED RESOURCES. WE TRAVEL BUT WE NEVER LEARN HOW OUR FRIENDS DO THINGS BETTER. ARE WE THAT DULL SURE MWEBANTU TO EVEN FAIL TO COPY AND PASTE. SAVE YOU PRIDE YOU READING THIS COMENTS
Construction company….. Buildcon (Build and con?)
Where is the money coming from? Spare us another bond please.
This will be something great done by GRZ. I have prayed for a dual carriage from Lsk to Ndola. Especially LSK to KBW will a wonderful development. Driving on Ndola Lsk road has too many near misses. Please this will decongestant the road. Do it 100% supported and a lot of lives will be spared.
Extend the dual carriage all the way to Livingstone and better still connect all provincial cities and major towns with such road networks.
it will be more cost effective and efficient.
However my worry on maintenance of these roads.
We need to devolve our system of running govt. we cant have everything being done from Lusaka
The answer to decongest the road is to revamp Zambia Railways. But I guess it’s another scam to steal money by the power failures.
what is your point? All I am reading from your comment are words without any point. just shut up
Phoenix Contractors only. No Chinese companies please. Save us the headaches! This is an important national project.
What kind of photo journalists do most media have? They must be the most useless and incompetent! I have tried to connect the reported story to pictures that accompany the stories but one can not connect or get the story from the pictures supplied. It seems all photo journalists are mere portrait photographers for pictures do not match with say the headline and/or what is in the story. Take for instance the picture alongside the article report here. The three gentlemen are supposed to be inspecting equipment but what we are seeing is that they were captured as they were wherever strolling.
They have even said Special assistant to the president for project
implementation and monitoring Luck Mulusa (r) with Road Development
Agency (RDA) senior manager public relations Loyce Saili (l) and
Buildcon construction company chief executive officer Moses Mubanga. I cannot Senior Manager Public Relations Loyce Saili. All the above are men, unless they tell me Loyce has transformed into a man.Kikikikikki
Can you do the Lusaka by-pass first??? Why should heavy traffic from the north or south continue going through Lusaka town???
Suma,
You are right my friend. Zambians that work with these Chinese contractors are so corrupt to the point I can not explain. The Zambian worker who worked with the contractor to rehabilitate Chimwemwe township roads in Kitwe were stealing stones and cement to build the cabins as their own. All the cabins that are in Chimwemwe township are products of the stolen cement and stones. AND look at the quality of the drainage system built with less cement input…it is crumbled. Zambians work better outside their country for fear of being fired for quantity works. However, the blame is on the Zambian workers not the Chinese per say.
Thanx
WHAT REALLY, SURPRISES ME IS THE TIME IT TAKES TO NOTICE THAT THE JOB WASN’T DONE PROPERLY. THE QUESTION IS DO THY INSPECT PROJECTS? AND IF YES, DO THEY USE A STANDARD FOR INSPECTING ROAD AND ANY OTHER PROJECTS? I WAS SHOCKED ONCE UPON A TIME WHEN I HAPPENED TO BE IN MANSA DURING THE TIME THE CHINESE COMPANY WAS CONSTRUCTING THE REST HOUSE/LODGE JUST BEHIND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THEY HAD ALMOST FINISHED BUILDING THE MAIN HALL BUT WHAT WAS SHOCKING WAS A SERIOUS CRACK FROM THE FOUNDATION TO THE ROOF LEVEL. WHEN I ASKED MY UNCLE HE SAID, “DON’T BOTHER THE AUTHORITIES KNOW ABOUT IT BUT THEY DON’T CARE, BALILYE NDALAMA”. JUST LIKE THAT, I LAMENTED. THAT CRACK CAN BE SEEN FROM 100M AWAY.
hi,wht is happening my comment?

We have waited for this road so long!
Good, please do it like yesterday. Tell us about Kazungula bridge too. Why do you allow people to construct houses and bars very close to the roads? So you are going to compensate those people building houses 5 meters from the road?
If it is another EURO BOND again! No please, spare us your madness!
Is Ms Saili a woman or a Man? I don’t see a woman on the picture but it says Loyce Saili left, the one on the left is a man, and in the article it says she said. What is it ba LT?
Let’s finish the projects we have stated first
50 years later, plan will still be used as an excuse..,,
